Testimonials from past wedding couples of the Radisson Hotel Sligo
The first reason I decided to check out the Radisson Blu was it’s location in Rosses Point. Rosses Point is a place that’s very special to me, and our engagement there made it even more so! When I first saw the hotel it was a huge bonus that I loved it so much and I knew straight away that it was perfect for our wedding. Added to that, Denise Meenaghan, the Wedding Co-ordinator for the Radisson Blu, played a big part in our final decision to have our wedding there as she couldn’t have been more helpful from Day 1 and we knew everything was going to be easy with her to help us.

I just wanted to say thank you very much to yourself and the team of staff who worked to make our wedding very special. The service we received on the day was exceptional, everyone remarked on it. The food was amazing; I especially liked the special touch with the names on the desserts for Mark and myself. On a personal level all the staff on the day gave me anything I asked for and did all they possibly could to make me feel like a princess for one day, it certainly was the best day of my life and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

The food was fantastic, everything was perfect and the room looked great. The hotel is fantastic, ye do a great job. All guests said the food and the room were great, no complaints at all which is good to hear. We will recommend the hotel to all friends getting married in the near future, for those that were at the wedding they would have seen for themselves what a brilliant hotel it is, the day spoke for itself.

Testimonial from Linda & John;
What made you decide to have your wedding reception in the Radisson?
It’s kind of a long story but we changed from our original reception venue to the Radisson Blu who could meet our needs better. We were not sure where to have our wedding but were bowled over by their amazing wedding planner Denise Meenaghan, who was a godsend. Denise was above what we expected from a hotel wedding planner, she never said ‘no’ to any requests, replied to emails speedily and came up with various great suggestions. I really can’t praise her enough and would recommend her to any bride thinking about venues; it makes such a difference to like, and be confident in the person who is running your wedding day.
Can you tell me a little bit about the types of things on offer for couples who decide to have their reception at the Radisson Sligo?
The Radisson are very flexible and really made us feel valued. As everyone knows a wedding is an expensive event and the Radisson made us feel like they appreciated our custom. We wanted our reception to look beautiful, have excellent food and music, and our guests to have a good room rate.
The food was something that people have since commented on a lot. We had three menu tasters and the head Chef Joe Shannon created a unique menu for us that were delicious, he even allowed us to choose each component of courses. Food is my area so I was very keen that it would be extra special, and it was great.
What did the staff there do to make it special for you?
The team at the Radisson made the entire planning so enjoyable and totally stress-free, which is some achievement as I was very picky and hardly trusted anyone to organize the different areas of our wedding. Denise took it upon herself to book our hotel in the Radisson Dublin Airport for the night before we flew off on honeymoon to Cuba, this was so handy and one less thing for us to worry about. Pawel and the function staff were excellent and the reception moved at a good pace, I think everyone was seated and on their first course at 5pm - we really didn’t want people hanging around and getting restless.
Did the day go smoothly?
Thankfully the day couldn’t have run smoother, we were warned by friends how busy it can be and stressful but we didn’t find this to be the case. We had so much fun and danced the night away!
We arrived at the drinks reception to an upbeat atmosphere, the bell rang for dinner and we joined our guests about 20mins later. We were announced to the sound of Daft Punk’s “One More Time” – the hotel had the music play to the line ’celebrate and dance’ as we were walking in, which is just one example of the attention to detail that the Radisson are amazing for.
As the first course was served we showed a slide show - a suggestion from Denise which was a great hit! It contained photos of us growing up with friends and family, so guests laughed out loud at seeing themselves at communions, birthday parties and graduations.
I really cannot find fault with any aspect of the Radisson’s service.
The morning after, we were given a breakfast that resembled a banquet in our beautiful room overlooking ocean views. The next day, all of the staff were so warm and friendly.
How was the food?
Extra special, we had five courses and lots of choice; some people have said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding and I have to agree. Joe Shannon made my favorite vegetables, red cabbage, to accompany the main course. He was prepared to make any soup of our choice; there literally was no limit to how he would custom design our menu.
Did you find it reasonable and the accommodation elegant enough for a bride celebrating her most important day?
We chose to use the full ballroom and it had a fabulous impact, the Radisson’s function room is very elegant and a great blank canvass to work with.
What stands out to you about the Radisson?
Attention to detail by the entire hotel team, excellent food and its convenience. As we got married on the 28th December, location is everything; the road to the Radisson is good and this has to be taken into consideration during icy conditions. We truly loved every minute of our wedding day at the Radisson!
